MORE BOOZE NEWS: {Well it is the season, right?} We've all heard red wine is good for the heart—but we always thought our teeth would be better if we stuck to chardonnay. Not so...Researchers have found that compounds in red wine, previously identified as antioxidants, protect teeth from cavities. A study in Italy investigated the effects of non-alcoholic red wine—and found that a bacteria that feeds on sugars in food and contributes to cavities was unable to cling to teeth and saliva when the wine was present. And if that's not enough, scientists in Canada found that red wine polyphenols may both prevent and treat inflammatory gum diseases. Worth drinking to!
