lush LASHES

FOR INCREDIBLY LUSH, CLUMP-FREE LASHES, THE TRICK IS ALL
IN THE LAYERING!
Here's the DIY guide...
1. To make lashes look full, glide a very thin line of black eyeliner across the
lashline to give the illusion of thickness.
2. After swiping on one coat of mascara ~ preferably one with a narrow wand,
which gets right to the root.
3. Place a few individual false lashes on the outer lashes.
4. Finish with a top coat of mascara, just on the ends, to seamlessly blend the faux lashes with the real ones.

home inspiration: SHADES OF GREY

 WHETHER IT'S TEAMED WITH WHITE, PASTELS OR BRIGHTS...
dark grey always pulls off a sophisticated look!
{Pics: Pinterest}

copy her make-up: PURPLE EYSHADOW

PURPLE EYESHADOW DOESN'T HAVEN'T TO LOOK LIKE A
THROWBACK FROM THE 80's...
Here are some tips from StyleList to keep your purple peepers completely modern...
The most flattering purple is bluish lavender. Fuchsia is the least flattering.
Always combine purples with other neutrals (golds, tans, taupes, browns) to avoid overkill.
Avoid 80s candy colours like full on pink blush and lips or you risk looking like "Miss Piggy!"
Minimise under eye discolouration with concealer and use Visine to take any redness out of eyes, unless that "I Just Got Punched in the Face" look is what you're going for.
how to wear purple...
SMOKY EYE - Choose deep purple or mauve shadows that suit your skin and work it into a smoky eye for a fresh take on this classic look.
DAY LOOK – Peachy pink is a universally flattering blush and lip color and works well with our hue d'jour. Nude works too.
EVENING LOOK – A spicy blush or bronzer with gold flecks will illuminate the face and bring the purple into present day. If you're going with purple eyes and bronzed cheeks, the best lip is a pinky nude.

ACCENTUATE THE POSITIVE IN YOUR LIFE...
Don't allow yourself to think that you're not good at a certain activity!
Instead, tell yourself that you REALLY want to learn a new language, take a pastry cooking class, try surfing or pick up the piano again

brush AWAY STRESS

BRUSH YOUR WAY TO RELAXATION...
You know how relaxing it feels when someone runs their fingers through your hair?
Well the simple act of brushing your own hair can put you in the same zone. Repetitive movements like this evoke a relaxation response in your body - this can break the chain of stressful everyday thoughts that can keep you from fully calming down.
Research has also shown that regularly tapping into that relaxation response can help slow stress-related aging.

the secret to RAISING HAPPY KIDS ~ part 4

PART 4 OF MY PARENTING STORY...
in which I spoke to parenting guru Michael Grose to get his no-nonsense advice!
{IF YOU MISSED PART 1 ~ CLICK HERE & PART 2 ~ CLICK HERE & HERE for PART 3}

Here's the 4th {of 6} key elements he believes will help you to raise happy, confident, well-behaved children…

4. LOOK AFTER YOUR CHILD’S MENTAL HEALTH
“Around one in 10 children struggle with anxiety and nearly fifty percent of adult sufferers identify that anxiety began in childhood,” says Grose. “Most kids, like adults, experience some anxious moments or have fearful thoughts and feelings from time to time. These thoughts and feelings prompt them to proceed with caution rather than rush in where angels fear to tread. But anxiety and fear can be paralysing and some kids simply can’t stop their ‘bad thoughts and feelings’. They can’t silence the voice of fear that whispers to them continually.”
“It’s important to remember anxiety is a normal part of life and it can be managed,” he says. “You should also recognise it takes time to manage anxiety and understand it can’t be solved in one conversation.”

how to help children overcome anxious moments:
* Anxiety is contagious. Parents and children can feed each other’s anxieties. So it’s the job of parents to stay calm, think clearly and role model confidence when kids get anxious.
* When your child becomes anxious create calmness through your words, voice and facial expression.

{Michael Grose is one of Australia’s most popular writers and speakers on parenting and family matters. He’s written six books, including the best-selling Why First Borns Rule The World And Last Borns Want To Change It ~ and he educates both parents and teachers around the world on how to raise happy, well-adjusted kids and resilient teenagers ~ check out his blog HERE}

Stay tuned for part 5!

a trip down MEMORY LANE

REMEMBER THIS?
Awww it was one of my faves...
I can still remember trying to tease my hair like Madge's {and piling on the hair gel}
 ~ and saving my pocket money to buy a neon 'tube' skirt!
LOL!

less is MORE

BE CARE NOT TO OVERLOAD ON PRODUCTS...
~ or at least try not to add products to your skincare routine without checking to see if you're duplicating ingredients. Sometimes, active ingredients cancel one another out — other times, they double up and cause irritation or skin damage.
Negative interactions are most likely to happen if someone is treating different problems at the same time, such as sun-damaged skin and adult acne, and the ingredients are either too harsh together or incompatible. The biggest culprits: retinol, glycolic acid (aka AHA's), vitamin C, and benzoyl peroxide—
avoid layering them, or at least try to use them at different times of day.
It's always best to check!
